Events and activities
Veronica House care home offers a wide range of activities.
From organised group events such as trips out or entertainment to ‘ad hoc’ individual outings on request, or where we feel an individual might benefit from time away from the home.
We employ an Activities Coordinator who arranges one-to-one and group activities and visits from entertainers. Activity preferences naturally vary between individuals, our activity co-coordinator endeavours to accommodate particular interests or talents.
One person’s love of singing may lead to the organising an afternoon concert; a lifetime of breeding Labrador retrievers could result in regular visits from a dog and its owner. The more we get to know a person, the more we can make their lives active, fulfilling and full of fun.
People will often suggest or develop their own activity ideas, whether to celebrate a special occasion or mark a significant event. Staff work with our ladies and gentlemen to develop and plan activities around a theme, from shopping to group craft projects.

Hobbies and interests
We encourage people to pursue their own interests, whether on an individual basis or in small groups. Gardening is popular, but we also run craft and painting sessions, knitting and sewing circles.
Many people revisit hobbies they have pursued in the past, while others take up new pursuits, perhaps because the extra support available makes them accessible. Families are often surprised by the new interests their loved ones take up and the vitality they develop in their new home.
Working in partnership
We are working in partnership with Oomph Wellbeing, who provide our care teams with a wide range of activity resources, exercise inspiration and training tools. These resources enable our care teams to offer genuinely person-centred activities for our ladies and gentlemen.
Oomph On Demand was launched to provide a flexible digital resource that includes activity, exercise, and TV content in one easy-to-use wellbeing platform. It offers a wide range of resources to support our ladies and gents, care teams and family members to improve meaningful engagement and overall quality of life.
Oomph On Demand provides constantly updated content 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. Content is created by a combination of our expert instructors and trusted partners, including Fit For Good, Instructor Live and Arthritis Action, to mention just a few. Both live and recorded video content provides a diverse range of sessions for ladies and gentlemen to enjoy, including seated exercise, Pilates, ballet and dance, which are provided up to 5 days a week. One of the things our care teams like best about Oomph is that they can request content tailored to a lady or gentleman’s particular interests.
Our ladies and gentlemen enjoy the Oomph activity books, quizzes, recipes, book club, puzzles, how-to videos and sing-along sessions.
